A knowledge base can generally be defined as a centralised repository of information. A public library, a database of information about a particular subject and Wikipedia can all be considered examples of knowledge bases. For information technology (I.T.), a knowledge base is a machine-readable resource for the dissemination of information, generally online or with the capacity to be put online. Knowledge bases are an integral component of knowledge management systems and are used to optimise information collection and information organisation and retrieval.
The knowledge base held on this site is for use by F.E.S. personnel and related parties. It is meant as a starting point for I.T. issues that may present themselves on a daily basis, providing a means to attempt resolution of common issues without having to submit tickets to I.T. help desks and service providers.
